Guggenheim Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Bilbao Spain, opened in 1997, designed by Frank Gehry a Canadian American architect and designer.

The 9 metre bronze Guggenheim Spider sculpture was created by Louise Bourgeois a French American artist.

Richard Serra an American artist designed "The matter of Time" installation which occupies one of the floors in the museum. His personal experience of capturing space and time.
